On the night of February 23 at 23:33, Station 20 was alerted along with Stations 19 (Callery), 42 (Adams Area), 11 (Penn Twp.) and 76 (Quality EMS) for a structure fire on Watters Station Rd. in Forward Twp. A second alarm of Stations 12 (Connoquenessing) and 23 (Harmony) were later alerted.
Chief 20 arrived on scene to find a two-story farmhouse with a room on the second floor well involved in fire and flames coming out the front window. Chief 20 was told that all occupants were out of the house.
Tanker 20 arrived on scene and advanced 200 feet of 1 ¾-inch hose into side A of the structure and up the stairs to attack the fire. Engine 19 laid approximately 500 feet of 5-inch supply line down the driveway and supplied water to Tanker 20 from their booster tank. Additional tankers were used to supply water from the end of the driveway.
Additional crews were used to attack the fire from the exterior on all sides as the fire spread into the attic area. Crews also attacked the fire by climbing a ladder onto the porch roof and extinguishing the fire through the front windows and eaves. Crews extinguished the fire and overhauled the structure.
There was major fire damage to the second floor, attic and roof area of the structure. There also was moderate smoke and major water damage to the first floor and moderate water damage in the basement.
