Welcome to the website of the ECVFD. We proudly serve the residents of Evans City Borough and Forward Township for Fire, Rescue and QRS. We have 30 active members who respond to an average of 170 calls per year. This site is still under construction, keep checking back as new content is always being added.

Storms bring a multitude of calls to the area

On the evening of Sunday September 14th, a fall storm brought strong winds through the area causing many trees and wires down.

Shortly after the calls began coming in, Stations 20 (Evans City),12 (Connoquenessing), 23 (Harmony), 3 (Meridian), and 62 (Harmony EMS) were alerted to Margaret Ave in Forward Twp for a stucture fire. Chief 20 arrived to confirm a working structure fire in the basement of the structure. First on scene was Engine 20, going to work quickly and knocking down a room and contents fire in the basement. Other crews worked to ventilate the structure and check for extention. Units returned after approx an hour.

Butler 911 continued handing out the trees and wires down as fast or faster than units accross the county could handle them. Over 600 calls for assistance were placed throughout the evening and into the early morning. Crews from Evans City operated until about 3:30am before finally returning in service. A big thanks to all the volunteers for dedicating yet another sleepless night to helping others in need.

Structure Fire on Ash Stop Rd

Shortly after 4pm on Saturday July 5th, units from Stations 20 (Evans City), 12 (Connoquenessing), 23 (Harmony), and 99 (Butler Ambulance) were alerted to Ash Stop Rd in Forward Twp for a cabin on fire. Lieutenant 20 arrived to find a small cabin already on the ground with no exposures of hazards. All mutual aid was placed back in service and Tanker 20 continued to the scene. The remainder of the fire was extinguished and the Fire Marshall was contacted. Units returned after a short period of time.

Fatal accident on Evans City Rd

At around 1:45 in the afternoon on Tuesday June 3rd, Stations 20 (Evans City) and 99 (Butler Ambulance) were alerted to Evans City Rd in the area of Buhl Rd for an accidnent with possible entrapment. Police arrived to find a pickup truck vs a tow truck head on and confirmed entrapment. Air evac was also place on standby. due to poor daylight staffing, Stations 12 (Connoquenessing) and 3 (Meridian) were also alerted. Butler Ambulance 99-4 arrived to find the driver of the pickup truck priority 4 and cancelled the air evac. Rescue 20 arrived and secured both vehicles and started controlling hazards. Station 12 units were instructed to set up traffic control and shut off access between Old Rt 68 and Buhl Rd while Rescue 3 continued to the scene. After the arrival of the county coroner crews extricated the deceased from the vehicle. After approx an hour and a half on scene units returned in service with State Police remaining on scene for while longer.

Second Alarm in Harmony

Shortly before midnight on Saturday May 31st, Stations 23 (Harmony), 22 (Zelienople), and 62 (Harmony EMS) were alerted to Thompson's Restaurant on Evans City Rd in Harmony for a possible structure fire, smell of smoke in the area. Chief 23 was first on scene reporting smoke showing and requested Station 20 (Evans City) for a full structure response. Engine 23-2 was the first apparatus on scene and went to work stretching a handline to the basement of the structure. The engine crew was able to get a quick knock down on the fire. Engine 22-2 was second on scene and secured a water supply. Other units from Harmony and Zelie arrived and supplied manpower and began ventilation. Engine 20 arrived shortly after and secured a secondary water supply. After the initial knock down no other extention was found and crews remained on scene for a short time ventilating the structure. Good work by the first in crew from Harmony for a quick knock down which prevented any further damage.
